Webber?
It’s his job to lead the football side of the club, and for me that includes getting the fans up to make FCR a cauldron.
Instead Webber is letting it be known that he’s on the market, that he’s only here as long as he’s allowed to go up mountains when he wants, and that he’s more interested in defending his terrible recruitment than leaning into it and trying to do something about it. And the communication from him to the fans is virtually zero, he’s too busy arguing with the local press to give them anything, and I infer that he thinks the fans are ungrateful arseholes.
Another potential catalyst for the fans, Smith, has basically says he’s got no interest in that, he’s not here to make us happy and he’s just going to shake a few hands in the tunnel and bugger off.
Then him and Shaky serve up slow, aimless, ineffective football that, understandably, kills the atmos.
I reckon that’s what he’s hinting at. And if it is, I reckon he’s got a bloody good point. Webber’s conduct in such a central role is really poisoning the well.
