this is why I was asking

When I started following football as a kid in 1992 (I had supported norwich since 89 but wasn't totally into the ins and outs of the league and stuff)

But I thought in 1992 if you won the league you had a team in the european cup, if you finished second you went into the uefa cup and if you won the cup you when in the cw cup

They got rid of the cup w cup and they gave a uefa space for it, and thats how we got into europe in 93 cos arsenal won the fa and league cup, giving us the uefa spot from the fa

Meaning us and villa were in the uefa

Which begged the question about us getting into europe over the years of the ban. I though the europe place on the uefa cup was only introduced in the 90's
