You cannot just blame "the recruitment" if the players drastically underperform their expected levels.
Emi Bundia was a massive success because he was recuited cheap (via the damaged-goods section we often shop at) AND because he developed and reached the ceiling the recruitment team had seen AND because he helped a side succeed.
Just getting Buendia into Colney was a success for the recruitment team. The way he developed was then mostly down to the coaching, his teammates and his own attitude.
Similarly I reckon that the recruitment of Roberts & Gilmour were both seen as successes, in that we got the players we were after (presumably) at a price we were comfortable with.
The entire footballing universe thought that those two were headed for the top. So tell me why it is Webber's fault that this didn't happen?
