The biggest mistake England make is selecting a captain who has never captained before

Root hadn't been a captain before at any real level and nor had Cook. Prior to these two KP and Flintoff were the same. All have been poor captains and international cricket is no place to try and learn if you are a good captain or not.
Its no coincidence that Strauss was such a good captain of England given that he had captained Middlesex for a lobng time prior to getting the job. Same with Morgan in the white ball stuff.

Its with this in mind that Billings gets mentioned as he has captained Kent for a long while and appears to be highly regarded as a good captain. In addition he is well thought of by both his fellow players and the media.
I think some people within the media think that Billings could do a similar role to Tim Paine did in Australia when he came in at their lowest point and steadied the ship... hopefully Billings isn't sexting other employees if he gets the job though!
