he finished top half of the Premier League with pretty much the same group of players. So for at least one season, he was able to get the players performing way above their average level. And he did so by playing an innovative system that got the best out of the resources at his disposable.
Things went bad when other teams worked out how to play against it, and Wilder didn't know how to change it up effectively. Which is a bit like the situation we are now in with Farke. Other teams have worked out how to beat us, and Farke has no answers.
