When I was a kid I used to avoid heading the ball at all costs

Because they were either heavy leather things stitched together, or over-pumped and rock hard.

I was ahead of the curve.

Balls are SO much lighter now, and much more padded, so shouldn’t do as much damage as they used to (but probably still some damage).
