I honestly don’t get the obsession with us staying in the Premier League. It’s a horrible

league. I get the importance of the boost in money we get for being promoted and I understand it is a reward for our successful previous season but after that I hate everything about it.

I hate the condescending pundits that know nothing about us. I hate the smug way they are proved right. I hate the divisive way Norwich fans react on social media. I hate the lack of games. I hate the amount of games we can ‘realistically expect something from’. I hate the huge (out of proportion huge) amount of pressure that is lumped on the team when something goes wrong. I hate the way I stop watching and following news about the team.

I’ve tried to understand the argument that this is the best league in the world – where everyone wants to be, but honestly it doesn’t work on me. I like to see my team play well and win. I don’t care if it’s in the Premier League or the championship. I know one is supposed to be worth more than the other but I just don’t get it.

I know as well we are supposed to get better players in the Premier League but again – so what? I’ve loved seeing our teams of hungry young unknown players develop and I can cope with the churn of our better players.

I refuse to be made to feel embarrassed ‘on the world stage’ by a result. I’m not interested in comments in the Guardian. I know what our identity is and I am proud of it.
