Just a thought but if Emi didn’t want to stay long term why would he sign a long contract (possibly two of them?) which effectively means his price goes up (like Harry Kane). We all knew within a few games of his first season how brilliant he was. Had he not signed those contacts then I think he may have been in his last year this season and so we would have got much less for him as he could walk for nothing in June. I guess in his first contract there would not have been a release clause but any subsequent release clauses would have been agreed by Emi.

Let’s hope he has good season and gets all those personal targets which means we get paid more.
