Farke is a total devotee of Pep's philosophy, and believes you defend by having possession of the ball (the other team can't score while you have the ball). But that only works if you have better players than your opponents and can have 60-70% possession of the ball, which Pep has always had. It is indeed a fantastic tactic if you can do that, as we demonstrated last season. But at this level we will never have good enough players to do that so it will never succeed. Our whole approach is based on us having the ball, hence us consistently looking clueless when we don't. Doubt we even practice it much. I haven't seen anything this season, in either our approach or the players we've bought, to suggest we are going to try anything even vaguely different. It's both admirably ambitious and naively suicidal at the same time.
