Firstly there is no evidence for this “promise” that people now seem to take as fact

Secondly if he was promised that he shouldn’t have been.

Thirdly he is under contract so we don’t have to sell.

It’s absolutely, depressingly pathetic to sell your best and almost irrreplaceable player in the summer after promotion. Like some sort of modern day Crewe Alexandra.
