Fixing your own bit of the world is a good start. And once GB is basically immune, it will become much easier to manage sources of infection from outside (by restricting travel and imposing quarantines, like Australia/NZ did) and much easier to manage any outbreaks that do occur (because in a vaccinated population many fewer people will get it and very few of those who DO get it will even end up in hospital, let alone die).
