And to me it translates as he won't be making any attempt to actually solve the blindingly obvious problems in the side. Maybe he's just being diplomatic and there will be changes, but he is either breathtakingly arrogant or just plain stupid if he thinks certain players will mirculously overcome their own failings if they have a holiday.
The only ones who may possibly save him are the kids - but most of them are a bit too young and it would require a major change in his approach to the game - not just his ingrained distrust of them, but tactically as well.
As for all this s**t about "Grinding out results"...has it occurred to him that 2 years ago we had a group of players who could (At Div 1 level) play quick pass-and-move football, and no-one could live with us? Sure there was hoofing, but it was an option rather than every time we got the bloody ball as there was movement off the ball which gave us that option! Yes we ran into a bit of trouble when we played a side with a fast pressing defence, but the number of teams that can do that effectively at this level can be counted on the fingers of an incompetent sawmiller. Oh, and "Earning the right to play"? That, Nige, is what you do in training, where you are supposed to demonstrate the skills that you will USE on when saturday comes.
Was lightning to fall tomorrow and make me manager, first out the door would be;
Hughes
Thorne
Louis-Jean
Jarrett (Obviously)
Desmond
There's thinking to be done on some of the others, too.
