Number of new covid cases (average of past 7 days, which is the best measure) has fallen below 20,000, for the first time since mid December. (That was a week and a half after the second lockdown was ended prematurely, on 2 December - so cases started to rocket again.)
Cases still falling by between a quarter and a third each week. Fingers crossed we don't repeat (for the second time) the mistake of December.
(Or put another way - someone lock Rishi Sunak away in a cupboard somewhere, and we just might get on top of this thing.)
Good news for the weekend.
