we were discussing this only this morning

if as a result of this pandemic more retail space goes back to residential/mixed use it might be a positive as it would possibly change the city into one where more people lived and more cafes, bars, restaurants and smaller shops would be needed as the larger chains shift to an online presence. there is a huge volume of people that commute in and out of the city to work but not to live so that would help improve air quality. all that GNLP work could be ultimately futile but I guess they will press ahead regardless. of course if covid rattles around perennially then social distancing might put a spanner in the works for larger social gatherings like cinemas and theatres.
