I don't disagree with the sentiment

And indeed that's what my family is doing, (i.e. we're not seeing each other).

However, as others pointed out the other day, there are far too many people that are incapable of being sensible and therefore will get together in big groups, probably will even break the rules on bubble size.

I can't help but think relaxing rules for Christmas is going to end in disaster.
