The reality of the pandemic in the UK is that it is driven by a relatively substantial proportion of the population who seemingly do not give a s**t.
It doesn't matter what Boris days, what the scientists say. Having Corbyn as PM no difference. The only thing that matters is whether Spoonies is open or not.
I ain't gonna let this new persistent cough stop me from going to work, then heading out for a few beers in a packed pub and then a curry in a packed restaurant.
Over Christmas, it seems the entire population is joining this subset. If the government said full tier 3+ lockdown everywhere you can bet that most would simply ignore th edict.
I am expecting a lot of deaths. Cases have risen rapidly in kids due to not closing schools. Then they go and hug granny at Christmas. Average time from infection to death is 18 day so expect a spike second week of Jan.
I do agree in that they should have pushed numbers lower in anticipation of Christmas. I think Germany is trying to arrange a 7 day super lockdown for anyone who intends to visit an elderly relative on Christmas which makes sense.
My family are just having an isolated Christmas proper followed by a second Christmas when my elderly parents are protected post-vaccination.
