When you look at the numbers its pretty clear that they have ballsed up by

announcing so early that we could all bubble up and mix over Christmas because now they cannot go back from that without creating massive resentment but I bet they wish they could do.

When we came out of lockdown the numbers of infections were starting to fall quickly and the numbers in hospital were starting to fall but cases were still around 14,000 per day. Had they got those down to single figures or even 5,000 then we would have been starting from a low base and bought ourselves a few weeks but starting from a base of 14,000 a day was always going to see a surge pretty soon.

We will all be in full lockdown in January with 30,000 plus cases per day and I suspect the hospitals will be struggling.
