think the issue is more about the later years

he wants to keep his options open, just wants a one year deal I think. Maybe in case he decides to do something else after that. Whereas I think merc want a longer time deal really, to help them plan.

plus he's worked really well with the boss Herr Wolf, who's stepping back. which is maybe giving hamilton a few second thoughts. but I think most people still expect him to re-sign.
