there's fairly strong survey evidence here that the single biggest reason people don't isolate when they should is that they can't afford to.

not subsidising isolators is incredibly short-sighted, when we then have to spend far more as a result of having to shut down the economy. is a good example of why the idea of a trade off between health and the economy is rubbish.
