... probably December/January.

It only become apparent when cases/deaths started rising rapidly in March.

Look at exponential growth works if you don't believe me. Thats how viruses spread. It must have been in our society slowly spreading and practically impossible to test for quite some time.

So given this is the case, to lock down earlier we would have had to detect it before it became a problem in essence.
