You'd be gutted to see them all go but wish we'd bought better players to play instead of them.
Amadou and Fahrmann were probably rated at over £20m between them last summer. If we'd actually bought them for over £20m rather than just loaned them would that have made you happier since your idea of "ambition" seems to be based solely on transfer fees paid? And those players filled what were generally considered our weakest areas last season, so we made our highest value acquisitions in the areas where most fans thought we needed to strengthen. Which seems to me like common sense. It's easy with hindsight when you know which players have underperformed and which have overperformed, but we didn't have that luxury in the summer.
