See table below the map in the link below - lots of countries have higher top band tax rates than us - Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany (just), Greece, Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg (just), Netherlands, Portugal, Slovenia, and Sweden.

Of course also depends who you charge it on. But plenty of those above also charge it on people who earn a *lower* multiple of the average wage than we do - Belgium, Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Norway, and Sweden.

And of course a lot of other countries who have a lower top rate also charge it to people on a lower multiple of average incomes.
