You're literally inventing a narrative.

I have a fairly consistent barometer with these kinds of things. If you make incredibly crass comments about rape and then seek to intimidate women who start a petition on the issue, perhaps you shouldn't be considered the very best of all possible candidates to be parachuted in to one of the safest parliamentary seats in the country.

And as for 'hounding' - again, your narrative. Parliamentary candidates need to address their own comments and opinions in a way that radio presenters do not. His choice to stand and if you think he believed this would just be entirely forgotten then that is quite incredible.
