It wasn’t lazy journalism

It was a challenging and provocative piece, and it’s part of a broader debate that’s engaging a lot of thought and reflection. Unconscious bias - which is what would lead writers to tend to accentuate the physical attributes of black players, cf white players - is something for us all to challenge ourselves over, and try and tackle. It’s more subtle and complicated than just ‘racist’.

You might disagree over whether this a big problem, or even a problem at all, but it wasn’t lazy journalism.
