Yes, I have no doubt we'd be prepared to for the right player

However, as we discovered last time, I suspect the number of players who ae:
a) good enough to make a difference
b) prepared to come here (i.e. not attract the attention of anyone paying higher wages)
is fairly small.
I don't think we're prepared to pay what we consider to be 'over the odds' (as we did to get Naismith to come here, for instance).
