I'm very familiar with this road.

The main bottleneck used to be Elvedon tragic lights. When they opened the bypass there wasn't any traffic lights at Barton Mills. The problem was people using the Mildenhall, Brandon and Bury roads just couldn't get on the roundabout, so they put in those bloody traffic lights making it even worse than Elvedon.

My advice to that if you are heading west it's usually not much of a problem most of the time. Coming East is a different matter. I normally stay on the A14 , come off a the first junction for Bury, then head through Fornham All Saints, then on to Thetford and then rejoin the A11 there.

It sounds long winded but believe me it really is quicker.
