"an impressively proper knee injury" and that was all cleared up in well under a year.
Actually, counterintuitively, that injury was one of the best things to happen to my running - it forced me to adapt my gait to a mid-foot strike, because any hint of a heel-strike was f**king agony, and since then my running form has been much better. I've had lifetime bests at 5k, half marathon and marathon since that injury.
