I guess I was meaning that rather than retooling engine lines back to making petrol, modifying diesel engines to help cope with the nox and sox should be an option.

My next car is likely to be petrol for the reasons you mention (as is my current). I was unlucky with the diesels I had before that and got fed up with dual mass flywheels failing...
