I think sometimes we forget that professional footballers are very young men.

Nelson is now 27 years old. Don't know about you guys but I was starting to wake up a little bit about my professional life at that time.

It is hard for them. They have to make very wise business decisions in a very small career window at a young age. It hit me when I coached in Germany and we had these top US College players and guys who had been on the books of NFL teams playing for us. You have to keep reminding yourself that they are actually not far from still being kids (22/23 years old).

Fingers crossed he will pull his finger out if indeed it needs pulling out. His request to play for the U23s is a good sign. It's the opposite of Marcus Edwards and at least Nelson isn't off getting pissed up at nightclubs and getting into fights every Friday night.
