Venice stunk like Uranus when we went

It was during one of the high flood days and it was honkingly rank pungent sewage turds floating by bad. That said, on all the other flood free days we were there it didn't honk a jot. They've installed a new flood barrier now so maybe the days of Venicehonk are long gone.

Jesus, it was bloody bad though.
