I worry I am out of touch

Yesterday, I thought we played well against a very good side. Yes I would like to see us go forwards quicker sometimes and take a few risks but fundamentally we pressed well, passed well and were a decent finish away from taking the lead prior to their goal and getting something from the game.

I simply could not believe the comments around me (Barclay upper). “We’re a rubbish side” “it’s sad to see” etc. People moaning at the atmosphere who didn’t put their hands together once in the whole game or sing a single word of support for their team only moan about Josh, that we were passing too much and boo at the end.

In my book it’s sad to see the entitlement these ‘fans’ have. Of course I’d love to be in the playoffs, scoring more goals and playing a slight more exciting brand of football. But from my seat I can see the changes happening this season and I am excited about next season blending some of the existing positives with some of he players currently out on loan / injured together with some further young and hungry signings.

What does the term ‘supporter’ actually mean? Those who left on 70 mins when the second goal went in don’t fall into that category for me or those who boo’d a team that clearly really tried in a match. In fact I don’t worry I am out of touch, on reflection I would rather people who aren’t prepared to get behind the team and support gave up their tickets for someone who might actually enjoy going.

Rant over :)
