I've seen this word used on here a lot recently. Well, it's my opinion that for over a decade on this forum, there have been plenty of agendas. Personal agendas. The same posters chase the same posters round and round, generally for the crime of having a different opinion. It's quite insidious.
More broadly: some on here (including myself) applaud the club for at least trying something new; want to give it time to see if it works; and on that basis, are never going to overreact to one bad game or another. It's too early to do so. You might call that a "big picture agenda".
But just as legitimate in their viewpoint are others: who note the slide in this club's fortunes over the last 3 seasons, have little or no faith in the owners, regard the jury as being well and truly out on the manager and Sporting Director, and as we'll be losing quality players in the summer and are cash poor, are worried. Justifiably so. They have a "big picture agenda" too - just a different one.
Online, fans of most clubs are usually split to some extent. Because we can't predict the future, we don't know which group will be proven right or not; or perhaps, neither will. But what I've always wished is that these issues could be discussed on here without people becoming so personal so often.
Why is the man, not the ball, played so often? No Norwich fan on this forum wants Norwich City to fail. Everyone wants us to succeed. And it's simple human nature to fit what happens in one game or another (or off the pitch too, as we saw this week) around what someone's idea of the "big picture" is.
One final thing. Those who accuse others of "agendas" in the perjorative sense are just as guilty of having one themselves. Probably even more so, in fact.
