Having a punt in the short term is why we are in the position we are. We pissed all our EPL money away with a last ditch attempt to buy 17th place by buying/loaning proven players on silly money.
We then AGAIN planned in the short term to go straight back up when we should, with hindsight have struck more of a balance between the 2.
Reality is, this season is the consequence of the people running the club not having a clue what they have been doing for years and thinking in a reactionary manner rather than planning 2,3,4 years ahead.
On loan signings in general, we haven't had a good record with these over many, many years. Using Mitrovic as an example, how would the dynamics of the squad be impacted by bringing in a loan signing on mega wages when the party line is that we are no longer paying silly money? The impact of that would linger long after Mitrovic (or similar) returns to their parent club.
