The other advantage the NFL had was that when they started they only did it with

challenges. Due to the stoppages the NFL has a natural moment for a challenge, and due to the timeout concept they also had the penalty - each team has 3 timeouts per half and if their challenge failed they would lose a timeout as a penalty. So they brought that in which was great - it meant at most 6 video reviews per half and you rarely got that as in American Football timeouts are gold dust. Very few coaches would risk their final timeout on a challenge so in reality 4 per half was maximum. Then it didn't affect it so much. Then they expanded it as it was a success, but now they're going a bit too far with it.

In football we don't have that luxury and we are trying to start off running rather than walking I feel.
