I agree with your concerns

With turnover, particularly if it's our best players leaving, there is a big risk that all we achieve is watering down the overall quality of the squad.

I've got more faith than you have in Webber and farke though I think. Players like Trybull, Zimmerman and stieperman suggest to me they've got an eye for a decent player. We basically spent nothing on those three.

Same with Reed.

Vrancic hasn't excelled, but I think he could when he has the right players around him.

Franke is a bit of a concern, Hanley is early days, but I prefer what we're doing now to the Alex Neil scatter gun approach to transfers. Last season's squad was so imbalanced it was ridiculous. We've gone some way to resolving that but there's still some way to go.
