I always remember going into a shop in Cambridge

and being asked if we minded if the assistant listened to 'the third programme'. And my mother always talked about 'the light programme' which became Radio 2 which was also where we heard sport until Radio 5 arrived.
So those 2, plus the World Service, plus Radio 4 and then BBC2.
