The trouble is that he got by on the goodwill of Wembley and a great day out had by all

The thing is last year after being in a good position at halfway, and after he'd made improvements to the squad. We got considerably worse, which ended in relegation. This year isn't an unknown for him and we are operating at considerably inferior level , and Blackburn aside were just performing the same.
When you make the decision to not start with a centre forward and still play with wingers whilst leaving the closest player we've got to a fit target man on the bench, you have to expect criticism for a stupid decision. He's bringing the same muddled approach we had in the second half of last year to this and were already five points adrift of the top spot. If he can't get it right now he might never get it right.
It looks more and more like getting up last time was just dumb luck, as he's not shown any kind of improvement. I think he's past the still learning his trade stage, to the time to consistently delivering stage. I've not seen anything to suggest he'll make a top manager, whilst it's great that he admits he got it wrong today, it was pretty bloody obvious when the team was announced.
