Our olympians had years of pathetic under-funding. And yet we still had

outstanding achievements. Coe, Ovett, Thompson, Wilke, Saunders etc etc

But we just to get one or two golds a games. And those medalists became heroes.

With lottery funding we are light years from those days, and why not. If it sparks interest in sports then it gets more folk off the sofa and outside. We have an obesity crisis as it is.
