The Greek problem is nothing to do with the EU - it was entirely caused by the Greeks, whose country was totally non-functional. If not for the EU Greece would have been totally f**ked anyway.
If the EU was SO awful to Greece why on earth did Syrzia (a left-wing protest government) decide it was better to agree to pretty much all the EU terms rather than remotely risk Grexit?
In Greece, as here, the EU functions as a very useful scapegoat for all sorts of people, left and right. But it is rarely the real problem.
