EU rules that apply here only do so because of a law passed by our Parliament

Parliamentary supremacy is a bit of a bollocks issue. If it was that simple why would so many parliaments (not just ours) willingly give up their own powers? It is all about shared/pooled sovereignty to gain influence over matters that affect you that you could not control on your own. In globalised world that is a lot of stuff.
