Germany did not take a bold stance, Germany unilaterally took a reckless stance that has

Caused major problems across the whole of Europe.

If Germany wants to take a million refugees then fine, good for them but the way to do it was to take people from official camps in Syria/Turkey and not to issue an open invitation to all to travel to Europe.

On s different note the recent events in Paris and Brussels were not caused by the recent migrant crisis and could have happened anyway. Blaming them on the migrant crisis is wrong. But they do illustrate why freedom of movement in the form currently implemented across mainland Europe is a threat to security and why every border should have controls reinstated immediately. You can still have free movement if you want but at least if you have proper checks on who is moving there is a better chance you catch some of these people on their way back from Syria (not that anyone who goes to Syria to fight jihad should be allowed back anyway).
