I'm not goilg to vehemently defend AN, as I think he has underachieved...

...but I think it is meaningless to compare this season with Lambert's first season. For a start, the bottom tier of Prem football is a lot stronger now than it was back then, so you need a lot more to achieve a similar position in the league.
