Henclrikus mentions below that Newcastle have an even worse FA Cup record than us in recent years (the only current premier league team for whom that's true).
The (rather depressing for both of us) facts are that we've both only got past the 3rd round twice in the past nine years - but they went out in the 4th round on both occasions, whereas we got to the 5th round in one of those years.
Ayway, that's all true. But I thought it might make a bit of a difference *who* you tend to go out to, as well. In fact, over the same nine years, we've gone out to teams from leagues below us more than half the time - five times (sigh). Whereas it's only happened 3 times to Newcastle (2 of those 3 were Brighton in successive seasons, oddly enough).
So I'm not sure their record is worse than ours, really. Not if you think being 'giant-killed' by going out to lower league teams is particularly disappointing, anyway.
(Mind you, the other of their 3 giant-killed moments was Stevenage, which was surely worse (funnier) than anything we've suffered.)
Anyway, just thought I'd look at the details on this, for my own interest really. Carry on.
