I'm struggling to find the part in the bit you've just pasted where SAN says he thinks booing the team is a good thing.

I can spot the part where he implies he understands why (some) fans booed (not me of course). But he knew exactly the message he had to give in the dressing room with out any help from the boos. Did you think he hadn't noticed but luckily a few helpful fans booed and that prompted his half time talk? Because that is just silly.

It was obvious from where I was sitting the booing was making our players play worse.
