Random First Post Question

A dear friend of mine's husband is Syrian. She and her child are British. The husband was put under ridiculous pressure to join Assad's regime. Refused. This put him and them in extreme danger; they all fled.

She and the child are safely here. He isn't. He doesn't have the finances to meet the normal immigration rules. However me and a group of friends have arranged accommodation for them - free for him and the state. He'd love to work but understands if he can't; we can keep him fed. They have absolutely no intention of staying in the UK a second longer than they need to; they're a Syrian family and, not really surprisingly, want to live in, well, Syria.

Only they'd rather not get tortured or killed in the process. Some people can be so picky.

We've got a group which has written - individually - to the relevant minister. My MP happens to be Theresa May and I'm seeking a meeting with her; though as none of them live or would near me it's a little tenuous and she may not take the meeting.

I'd be almost pathetically grateful for thoughts on things I might be missing or things I could do to help that I'm not already.
