I wouldn't necessarily say it was a poor window either

because we did stay up off the back of it. But I think it set us back in the long term because the players ultimately weren't good enough and they were only suited to Lambert's style. The lack of planning from the board regarding managerial succession meant that we have had to offload loads of players each season since to try to remould the squad, and so haven't been able to go all out to buy 1 or 2 really top class players. Instead we're signing 6 or 7 mediocre ones. We're still doing it now.
