(a) Don't commit mortgage fraud (b) don't try to beat the system

I do legal contracts stuff in a bank and some of the ones that cross my desk concern lending and fraud prevention. There is a *lot* of data available to banks. They will run your personal circumstances against computer models which will tell them how truthful the data thinks you are being. They can also verify (very broadly) whether your declared income and outgoings correlate with your actual bank account activity. Amongst lots of other stuff that I can't share.

Welcome to the world of Big Data. Keep ticking those 'don't share with third party' consent boxes, kids.

And, at the end of the day, if you can't afford a mortgage then there's no point trying to pretend otherwise as it'll only cause you grief when the IRs go up.
