Wrath mortgage advice

So I'm in the early stages of trying to sort a mortgage, and I've been looking at a few affordability calculators online, and I have a question around dependents......

My 4 year old boy spends between 3 and 4 nights a week with me, and I also pay his mum ?200 a month maintenance (informal agreement, and it's a reduced amount to reflect the fact he spends at least 156 nights a year with me).

The majority of affordability calculators ask for number of dependents and then separately how much you pay in maintenance, it seems slightly unreasonable to declare both and be penalised double in terms of affordability.

Is it legitimate to declare one or the other, i.e. list no dependants, as his main place of residency is his mums, and declare just the ?200 I pay in maintenance?

This is my first mortgage btw, and will bea 95% one.
