the main issues you had is the model and when you bought it

2-3 years ago companies REALLY didnt want to update the phone. why would they....costs to them and probably gave more life to a handset so you dont update / upgrade

in addition you got a mid range phone. which meant any update is more of an after thought.

so they probably spent very little time on the update for your phone.

now, its in their agreements with google they will update their devices. in addition, customers demand it more hence youll see many more handsets get an upgrade.
