Good academy, good recruitment, fantastic directors and a legacy left by Martinez

There's not many legacy builders in football management nowadays, but he's one - and they've stayed true to his ideas ever since he left. They've even got two Spaniards on their coaching staff.

The whole point of what Swansea do is it shouldn't matter who the manager is. When they make a change, the new manager doesn't rip everything up, start again, get rid of a bunch of players and bring in a bunch of new ones. Things just continue. But it's taken years and years to build that up - and to do so, they had to get the key personnel decisions very, very right. We've not; we don't have a Martinez, and what's worse is we'd never even look for one.
